There are many mistakes that we all do. They’re actually myths, and when it comes to fitness and workout many people have different opinions. These fitness lies, are something that even your trainer tells you, and they’ve become so strong, that the internet is flooded with these false facts. These myths have started to prevent all of you out there, from achieving better results. So here we go!
1. Cardio Burns Muscle
Many lifters avoid the treadmill, thinking that a single cardio session has the ability to eat up much of their muscle gains. And the truth is yes, your body could absolutely start to use muscle as fuel when you’re doing cardio, but only during extremely long bouts of it. These means that you can burn muscles, if you are at the very end of a marathon, and only after you’ve used up all of your stored energy sources. Indeed, rather than consume itself, your body prefers to use the food that you eat to fuel your long run or ride. It’s a survival mechanism.
2. Don’t Stretch
Yes, we shouldn’t stretch at the beginning of our workout, when our muscles are not warmed up. But we should stretch for sure. We can do that in the morning, or before going to sleep, or even after the workout. Even if you want to build muscles, you have to be flexible. Look at Shaun T and his companion Tania. They both stretch, and they both have amazing bodies.
3. Certain Exercises Build Long and Lean Muscles
A favorite claim of celebrity trainers is that their workouts build you a long and lean physique. If you want to lengthen a muscle, you have to break a bone and increase the distance from where the muscle originates to where it inserts. In other words, you can’t ‘lengthen’ a muscle with an exercise. Long and lean muscles are actually just what people think of when they see people who have excellent muscle definition, yet relatively small muscle size.
4. Don’t Eat A Lot
Many girls think that eating less, or even skipping meals, will help them uncover their abs. And the saddest thing is that many trainers share this opinion. Or they unwittingly develop a calorie deficit, while attempting to eat more healthfully. Either way, the result is the same, because not eating enough slows your metabolism and makes it easier for you to overtrain because you don’t have enough nutrients to fuel recovery.
How are you supposed to give 100% in the gym if you have not eaten enough. You have to eat a lot, so you have enough energy to make it through the training.
5. Setbacks Are Crucial
Trainers love to say that if you have a setback, you lose a lot. Well, let me tell you this, yes setbacks are not good, but they are normal. No one is perfect. You can expect to hit some bumps on the road, no matter how hard you’re trying. The important thing is not to let those bumps get you totally off track, but to learn from them and move forward. Just don’t give up, have your break, take your time and move on.
